EMDR STATISTICS

There is a growing body of research on the effectiveness of EMDR, particularly for individuals who have experienced trauma. Here are some statistics from recent studies:

  • A meta-analysis of 26 randomized controlled trials found that EMDR was as effective as other evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), in reducing symptoms of PTSD (van den Berg et al., 2019).

  • A study of 100 individuals with chronic pain found that EMDR led to significant reductions in pain severity and interference, as well as improvements in anxiety, depression, and sleep quality (Grant et al., 2017).

  • A systematic review of 19 studies on the use of EMDR for anxiety disorders found that EMDR was associated with significant improvements in anxiety symptoms, with effect sizes ranging from moderate to large (Tufan et al., 2021).

  • A randomized controlled trial of EMDR for panic disorder found that EMDR was as effective as CBT in reducing panic symptoms, with both treatments leading to significant improvements (Acarturk et al., 2018).
