Who may benefit from EMDR?

EMDR can be useful for all types of emotional distress, including but not limited to:

  1. Individuals with PTSD: EMDR has been shown to be an effective treatment for PTSD, particularly for individuals who have experienced military combat, sexual assault, or other severe traumas.

  2. Individuals with anxiety or depression: EMDR may also be helpful for individuals with anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder or phobias, and for individuals with depression or other mood disorders.

  3. Individuals with chronic pain: EMDR has been shown to be effective in reducing chronic pain and associated symptoms, such as anxiety and depression.

  4. Individuals with addiction: EMDR may be used as a part of addiction treatment to address the underlying trauma that may have contributed to the addiction.

  5.  Individuals who have experienced a single traumatic event; such as a car accident or physical assault, or multiple traumas, such as childhood abuse or neglect.

  6. EMDR can be used for any kind of distress, and processing of painful memories.
