Preparing for a virtual EMDR session is similar to preparing for an in-person session. Here are some tips to help you prepare:

  1. Check your technology: Make sure you have a reliable internet connection and a device with a webcam and microphone. Test your technology before your virtual EMDR session to make sure everything is working properly.

  2. Choose a private and quiet space: Find a private and quiet space where you can participate in the session without distractions. This can help you feel more comfortable and focused during the session.

  3. Prepare your environment: Set up your computer or device so that your therapist can see your face and upper body during the session. You may also want to have a box of tissues or a comfort object nearby in case you become emotional during the session.

  4. Use headphones: Consider using headphones during the session to ensure that you can hear your therapist clearly and to reduce background noise.

Remember, it's important to work with a licensed and trained therapist to determine the best course of treatment for your individual needs, whether in person or virtually.
